Through a number of years of experience
in the hospitality industry, Malachite has identified a
potential market gap for a module-based DVD system,
offering training in various aspects of customer
service. ‘Housekeeping’ is a broad term that maybe used
to encompass a number of service areas, ranging broadly
from cleaning and room service to bar work. The
different training modules are aimed at entry-level
hospitality staff and focus on skills transfer, with the
emphasis on understanding of the training material. The
content is presented in English as well as in an African
language. The DVD set includes visuals, written material
as well as voice-overs, all in order to communicate with
a maximum impact to a largely illiterate and non-English
speaking audience. In comparison to traditional
training, the fee structure for the DVDs will be
once-off and training can be administered repeatedly at
any given time. The training can take place either
individually or on a group basis. The option offers
further flexibility as it can be, at an extra cost,
adjusted to a more unique hospitality environment as
well as be applied either independently or in addition
to other existing in-house training options.
